Catholic Education - School of Pastoral
LeadershipNOTE:
As of the Fall of 2003, the Religious Studies Program has been
incorporated into the the School of Pastoral Leadership.
Information
Sponsored by the Diocese of Salina and Newman University,
Wichita, the School of Pastoral Leadership is a comprehensive training
program offering certification in six areas of ministry: Parish
Life Coordinator, Pastoral Associate, Religious Education Coordinator,
Liturgical Coordinator, Family Life Minister, and Youth Minister.
Training concentrates on three important areas of
ministerial development: academic courses, training workshops, and
spiritual retreats. Academic courses and training workshops are
offered every semester in each vicariate of the diocese. Spiritual
retreats are offered annually.
Admission to the School of Pastoral Leadership requires
filling out the appropriate application forms and endorsement by one's
pastor/pastoral administrator and Parish Pastoral Council. Forms
will be sent upon request. All those enrolled in the School of
Pastoral Leadership must take all academic courses for credit.
Training workshops are for clock-hours only.
Courses and workshops are open to any interested persons
and may be taken for clock-hours or credit. If a student takes a
course for clock-hours, it will not count toward certification later,
but must be repeated for credit.
Those wishing to work toward certification may not need
to take all the courses if they have taken the same or similar courses
through the Lumen or Religious Studies programs. Transcripts
should be sent to Fr. Frank Coady at the chancery. The admissions
committee will review transcripts to see what courses students will need
to take.
