CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FOUNDATION:
INVESTING IN THE FUTURE
Bishop Paul S. Coakley
RECENTLY I ANNOUNCED the establishment of a new initiative in the Diocese. The Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Salina is a means of investing in the future. (See article in the February 8 issue of The Register).
While the concept of community foundations may be new to many of us, they are becoming increasingly popular as a way to guarantee a secure and steady stream of income to cherished institutions or to support new initiatives while offering great flexibility to donors.
The Catholic Community Foundation will be a valuable tool providing Catholics with opportunities to establish a permanent means of financial support for their parishes, Catholic schools, or other Catholic institutions, charities and ministries throughout the thirty-one counties of our diocese. But that is only the beginning. The possibilities are only as limited as our creativity.
AT A TIME WHEN so many resources and so much wealth are leaving rural communities the Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Salina offers a way to invest in the future of our local communities. It is an expression of our commitment to the future viability of Catholic life and institutions in the Diocese of Salina.
The Catholic Community Foundation has been established as an affiliate of the Greater Salina Community Foundation. This affiliation will enable us to benefit by their proven experience, as well as by their professional expertise and services, while keeping our administrative costs to a minimum.
As people learn about the Catholic Community Foundation I think they will be as impressed as I am by the flexibility, security and creative opportunities it offers for wise stewardship and long-term influence. Establishing or contributing to funds within the Foundation will enable us to provide support to those Catholic institutions, services and ministries that have touched our lives and mean the most to each of us.
